Tacoma Rising UWT Challenge: Swiss & Sound
Rebranding | Messaging Development | Story-telling | Marketing Challenge
“Shaped by the sound, held by the community”
In this 3 hour challenge, UWT students were grouped within their majors to develop a dynamic and comprehensive plan focusing on their “department”. As part of the Marketing team for this competition, we developed a marketing plan focused on fresh messaging and rebranding The Swiss, a music venue and pub on campus which was built in 1913. Our challenge was to reimagine The Swiss in relation to the new campus development plan, which was released this year.
My team and I focused on our core strengths during this challenge and developed a robust vision that focused on not only generating revenue, but also bringing micro-communities together in celebration of Tacoma and it’s artistic side. We decided to pay tribute to The Swiss, and it’s history by keeping “Swiss” in the name, along with a red shade in the brand kit and a mountain range in the logo to represent the Swiss Alps.
This presentation introduces our concept of “Swiss & Sound”, a revamped community spot for families, friends, students, and everyone in-between. Our Slogan, “All for one, one for all” paired with the tagline “Shaped by the sound, held by the community” conveys the concept of this being an inclusive place, for everyone to enjoy together.
I hope you enjoy what we put together! This project was one for the books and something I will look back on often when overcoming challenges as a team facing tight deadlines.

“Here to make student voices not only heard but valued“
As the present Director of Outreach for student government, I have been determined to advocate in the art of outreach and advertising on campus. My team and I have been working all year to ensure that college students’ needs are being met on and off campus. We have successfully registered 100+ students for our upcoming Huskies On the Hill tri-campus lobbying day in Olympia. This event brings UW students together to propose a sustainable future with opportunities to get a higher education.

The Grit List
Weekly Newsletter | Informative | Student Audience | Resourceful
“The Weekly Newsletter for UWT Resources and Events“
Upon assuming my role, I successfully rebranded the “Husky411” newsletter to The Grit List. This transition involved utilizing Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Canva for creative design purposes. Additionally, I strategically formulated plans using student data that resulted in a significant increase in our peak open rate from 44% to 70%. The average open rate also increased from 25% to 61%!
This transformation demonstrates my capacity for innovation in fostering engagement within the digital sphere. Through The Grit List, I have revitalized our newsletter and established a platform that authentically engages its audience.

Riah’s Brow Art
Beauty Industry | Innovative | Enhanced Natural Beauty
“Forever Brows, Forever You”
Riah’s Brow Art was a microblading (semi-permanent) eyebrow business founded by me at the age of 19. I established this venture with aspirations of enhancing people’s confidence by accentuating their natural beauty without makeup. I believe that well-shaped, symmetrical eyebrows play a vital role in framing one’s face and highlighting other features. By providing defined brows, individuals can experience a significant transformation, allowing them to feel beautiful and confident with or without makeup. Moreover, my services were advertised as a way to enjoy activities like swimming and going to the gym without being overly concerned about their makeup coming off.
Riah’s Brow Art had been flourishing as a lucrative venture with promising profit margins. However, the beauty industry faced challenges during the pandemic, leading to irregular closures and reopening schedules. In response, I made the difficult decision to close Riah’s Brow Art and shift my focus towards my passion for marketing within the business landscape.
